A soup favorite in this house....

So we spent most of our weekend holding a yard sale, so much stuff we need to get rid of, we didn't make much money but what we gained as far as meeting new neighbors and new friends is invaluable. Someone named Iris came by like a ray of sunshine, said she lived with her partner down the road and is a decorative painter. She's off to France today but told us to stop by and see their gardens and have some wine as soon as they get back. We are taking them up on that. Another woman named Rosemary stopped by and knew the whole history of our house way back from the 1700's. So we chatted for a while I found out awhile ago that the first butternut squash was invented by the farmer that lived in our house. Now that farm is Butternut Golf Course but it's kinda cool that the farmer that invented it lived in our house. Butternut soup anyone??

Speaking of soup.. made one today that I'm going to call the anti-diet soup for fall. It's a potato, bacon, corn chowder soup that will make you so happy on these chilly days (although it was 85 here today). I am putting the recipe here for you in case you want to make everyone in your house love you just a little more

chop one lb of bacon and one onion, cook that and drain some of the grease, not all of it, but a lot of it.

pour in 1 qt of water or a combination of water and chicken or veggie stock, for today's soup I did 2 cups chicken stock and 2 cups water

cut up four potatoes (I peeled mine, but not sure you have to), throw that in and cook for 15 minutes.

throw in 2 cans creamed corn and 2 cans regular corn and 2 cans evaporated milk, simmer for awhile and enjoy!
